For the relationship between CD68+ and pTDP‐43+ superpixel number, multiple linear regression revealed that both slopes (disease: a = 0.04913, control: a = 0.000888; p < 0.001) and y‐intercepts (disease: y = −0.18602, control: y = 0.056674; p < 0.01) of the linear models were significantly different between C9‐ALS and controls (Figure 5C), suggesting a relationship between microglial activation and TDP‐43 aggregation in disease. The gene discussed is CD68; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
