PLS3 and cancer: Humans feature three highly similar plastin isoforms: I-plastin (PLS1/fimbrin), expressed in the kidney, the intestine, and the inner ear, where it localizes to microvilli and stereocilia (33, 34); L-plastin (PLS2/LCP1), natively expressed in leukocytes (35) and ectopically expressed in many cancers (36); and T-plastin (PLS3), the most abundant isoform, which is ubiquitously expressed in solid tissues (37) and dysregulated in cancers (38).
