From the pathways identified in our metabolomics study (glycolysis, TCA cycle, anaplerosis/TCA interacting pathways, NAD+ metabolism, and creatine/phosphocreatine dynamics), we determined whether the expression of genes encoding critical metabolic enzymes within these pathways (irrespective of their expression relationship with RON/DEK/β-catenin) could prognosticate breast cancer outcomes. The gene discussed is DEK; the disease is breast cancer.
