Interestingly, lower cancer rates have been observed in individuals with Laron syndrome, a rare autosomal recessive inherited disease with growth hormone receptor mutation (GHRD) in which affected individuals have decreased serum IGF-1 levels and severely reduced body stature with an average adult height of approximately 118 cm in females and 124 cm in males (Laron et al. 1993). Here, GHR is linked to Laron syndrome.
