Previous work in the retina demonstrated that IL-27 is upregulated in photoreceptors and microglia in a mouse uveitis model and IL-27 leads to STAT1-dependent induction of IL-10 and SOCS1, suppressing intraocular inflammation, inhibiting expansion of Th17 cells, and preserving the retina [22, 28]. Here, IL27 is linked to uveitis.
