We recently demonstrated that the release of proinsulin-like molecules was decreased after 6 weeks of a weight-maintaining CRHP diet when compared with a CD diet, which we suggested was the result of decreased demand on the β-cells (19), caused by reductions in postprandial hyperglycemia occurring after the CRHP meals (18, 22). The gene discussed is CRIP1; the disease is Hyperglycemia.
