Indeed, in the embryonic cortex in vivo (Li et al., 2014) and in neuroblastoma (Woods et al., 2022) and glioblastoma (Azzarelli et al., 2022) cells in vitro, Ascl1SA6 is more efficient at turning on neuronal gene expression and less efficient at transactivating the Sox9 glial promoter compared to Ascl1 (Li et al., 2014).
