In particular, chemokines and cytokines, such as regulation of IFN-γ production, regulation of monocyte chemotaxis, positive regulation of lymphocyte chemotaxis, regulation of T-cell chemotaxis, and cytokine–cytokine receptor interaction, are jointly involved in the glomerular and tubulointerstitial lesions of DKD, further highlighting the importance of inflammatory response in the onset and pathogenesis of DKD. This evidence concerns the gene IFNG and diabetic kidney disease.
