A phase II study investigated the impact of LHRH antagonists on cardiovascular disorders (CVDs) and reported that major cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events developed in 20% of patients in the LHRH agonist group vs only 3% of those in the LHRH antagonist group (p = 0.013); the absolute risk reduction in cardiovascular-related events in the antagonist group was 18.1% (9). The gene discussed is GNRH1; the disease is cardiovascular disorder.
