More recently, in the Prospective Comparison of ARNI (Angiotensin Receptor–Neprilysin Inhibitor) with ACEI (Angiotensin‐Converting Enzyme Inhibitor) to Determine Impact on Global Mortality and Morbidity in Heart Failure (PARADIGM‐HF) trial, 11.6% of patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) were found to have elevated bilirubin at baseline and bilirubin was again the most predictive liver test and remained independently so in a multivariable model including N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide (NT‐proBNP).11 The gene discussed is NPPB; the disease is hydrops fetalis.
