There is evidence that high LH levels in postmenopausal women correlate with a higher incidence of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) (Henderson et al., 1994; Rocca et al., 2007); LHβ transgenic mice are cognitively impaired Casadesus et al., 2007; LH receptors (LHCGR) are present in the hippocampus (Rao, 2017; Liu et al., 2007); and hCG induces cognitive deficits in rodents (Berry et al., 2008; Barron et al., 2010). The gene discussed is LHB; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
