Together, these results support that bleogen pB1 and EGF share, in part, similar pathways to regulate immune response signaling and the TGF-β-extracellular matrix, which could be the underlying reasons for their potential benefits in reducing corneal opacity during corneal healing (Qazi et al., 2010; Tandon et al., 2010; Wilson et al., 2012; Frangogiannis, 2020).
