Hepcidin values at admission were significantly higher in the sepsis than in the non-sepsis group of patients, 41.0 nmol/L (IQR 21.0–66.0) versus 11.5 nmol/L (IQR 3.9–35.5), (p < 0.001), with the highest concentrations recorded already at admission. This evidence concerns the gene HAMP and Sepsis.
