Over the past 40 years, 3 main classes of ET have demonstrated clinical benefit and been licensed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of breast cancer; selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs; tamoxifen and toremifene); selective estrogen receptor degraders (SERDs; fulvestrant); and aromatase inhibitors (AI, letrozole, anastrozole, and exemestane) [1, 2].
