In the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition-InterAct study, inverse associations have been observed between plasma phospholipid 15:0 and 17:0 and lipid markers, such as total cholesterol, triglycerides, apolipoprotein A-1, apolipoprotein B. This study also suggested that increasing odd-chain SFAs was accompanied by a decreased C-reactive protein, per 1-SD increment of the sum of 15:0 and 17:0 was associated with a 10% decrement of this inflammatory marker (86). This evidence concerns the gene APOB and cancer.
