In a study by Wang et al., bioinformatics analysis was performed to investigate the mechanism of MDs in males and found that downregulated microRNA-124-3p suppresses the mTOR signaling pathway by targeting DNA damage-inducible transcript 4 (DDIT4) in the male population with mood disorders, thus suggesting miRNA as a gender-specific novel target for MDs [220]. This evidence concerns the gene MTOR and myelodysplastic syndrome.
