Analysis of diseased arteries from hypercholesterolemic apolipoprotein E (ApoE)−/− mice using immunofluorescent light-sheet imaging revealed that JAG1 and NOTCH4 were enriched in regions of atherosclerotic plaque compared to adjacent nonplaque areas, indicating a potential role in atherosclerosis (Fig. 1D). The gene discussed is NOTCH4; the disease is atherosclerosis.
