The microalbuminuria was more prevalent among patients who had higher age, male gender, longer duration of diabetes mellitus, oral hypoglycemic agents, poorly controlled diabetes mellitus, history of hypertension, and overweight, in contrast to patients who had lower age, female gender, shorter duration of diabetes, on insulin, well-controlled diabetes mellitus, no history of hypertension, and normal weight.
