Zhang and colleagues showed that Lactobacillus casei strain YRL577 alleviated nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in mice by increasing the intestinal FXR-FGF15 pathway (54), and Liu and colleagues found that FXR in the liver and intestine activated by Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG had a synergistic effect to reduce cholestasis (17). This evidence concerns the gene NR1H4 and cholestasis.
