Although our experiments demonstrate that MT has protective from GC-induced ferroptosis, and inhibits the ferroptosis pathway in rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells by activating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling axis to attenuate steroid-induced osteoporosis (Figure 9), we should also focus on the contribution and balance between the therapeutic effect of melatonin and bone tissue regeneration, and in addition to the role of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, other signaling pathways and autophagy in GC-induced SIOP cannot be ignored and should be explored in the future. The gene discussed is MTOR; the disease is osteoporosis.
