Numerous studies proposed N. sativa as an adjuvant therapy in diabetes control, since it revealed a significant reduction in glucose values following oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels, and insulin resistance, and also an escalation in serum fasting insulin concentrations (18–20), while recent research reported that N. sativa supplementation increased the levels of glycemic control components (21). This evidence concerns the gene INS and diabetes mellitus.
