Prostate tumor cells produce large amounts of IL-6 and its receptor, IL-6R (gp80), and IL-6 functions as a paracrine growth factor for the human LNCaP androgen-sensitive prostate cancer cells and an autocrine growth factor for the human DU145 and PC3 androgen-insensitive prostate cancer cells [28–32]. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and prostate neoplasm.
