NLRP3 and Parkinson disease: Qiu et al. (2022) found that UA mitigated NLRP3 inflammasome activation in LPS-stimulated BV2 cells and an MPTP-induced PD mouse model at least partly through the enhancement of microglial mitophagy, as disruption of microglial mitophagy with pharmacologic or genetic approaches impaired the neuroprotective effects of UA in PD.
