Moreover, we revealed for the first time, in accordance with previous findings (Hubert et al., 2005; Rodríguez-Sastre et al., 2005) showing an increased cytoplasmatic E-cadherin staining in the progression of cervical cancer, that in HPV-positive HNC specimens E-cadherin staining is prevalently cytoplasmatic compared to HPV-negative HNC. The gene discussed is CDH1; the disease is cervical cancer.
