In the cancer literature, transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) associated with tumor-derived EVs has been shown to promote tumor progression by stimulating the migration of cancer cells, by inhibiting T-cell responses, and by inducing differentiation of fibroblasts into myofibroblasts that support tumor growth, vascularization, and metastasis, reviewed in (21). The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is cancer.
