Giovanna Di Emidio et al. found that SIRT1 expression and adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation were significantly enhanced in the ovary in the established dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)-induced PCOS mouse model, suggesting that SIRT1 may regulate PCOS ovarian autophagy through activation of AMPK [48]. This evidence concerns the gene SIRT1 and polycystic ovary syndrome.
