In the surgical series of NF tumours, the gonadotroph subtype is the most common, 58–75% (22), whereas in the present cohort, it accounted for 5–31% (the higher percentage applies assuming that immunostaining for FSH/LH and/or SF-1 was not done in 10 of 14 tumours reported as immunonegative, and if done, would have been positive for FSH/LH and/or SF-1 in all of them). This evidence concerns the gene PLOD1 and neoplasm.
