NTSR1 and neoplasm: Similarly, palmitoylation also benefits tumor cells by inhibiting apoptosis: G‐protein coupled receptor (GPCR) neurotensin receptor‐1 (NTSR‐1) was found to be dually‐palmitoylated at Cys381 and Cys383 in MDA‐MB‐231 breast cancer cells, and mutation of the palmitoylation sites reduced the interaction between NTSR‐1 and Gαq/11, and decreased the localization of NTSR‐1 to the structured membrane microdomain, where Gαq/11 is preferentially present, impaired NTS‐mediated ERK1/2 stimulation, and the ability to rescue cells from apoptosis induced by serum deprivation [24].
