CD82 and prostate carcinoma: A study published in 2004 showed that the cancer metastasis suppressor KAI1/CD82 was palmitoylated at multiple sites (Cys5, Cys74, Cys83, Cys251, and Cys253) to inhibit migration and invasion of prostate cancer cells; and palmitoylation deficiency by mutating palmitoylation sites resulted in the loss of this inhibitory effect [41].
