The NOD-like receptor (NLR) family pyrin domain–containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is an important component of the inflammatory process and is involved in various inflammatory disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, type 2 diabetes, and obesity [31,32] . The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
