Pregnant women in the severe COVID-19 group were characterized by neutrophilia (p < 0.0001), lymphopenia (p < 0.0001), and thrombocytopenia (p = 0.045) when compared to the other three groups, accompanied by increased concentrations of acute phase reactants such as CRP (p < 0.0001), D dimer (p = 0.027), and procalcitonin (p = 0.0001) compared to the mild group. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and lymphopenia.
