Interestingly, MCD-induced NASH in NLRP3−/− mice showed that serum alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), IL-1β, and IL-18 levels were lower than those in non-knockout mice and significantly reduced hepatocyte inflammation, hepatomegaly, and liver fibrosis (Cai et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
