As shown in Figure 7, malnutrition induced by low protein diet (PM) for 11 weeks or by food-added 0.4 g/kg MSG for 8 weeks in rat pups significantly disrupted the oxidative stress balance in rats’ brain which was evidenced by colorimetric assessment of TAC (total antioxidant activity), SOD (superoxide dismutase), reduced glutathione (GSH) and MDA (malondialdehyde) content (Figure 7A–D). Here, SOD1 is linked to malnutrition.
