Since GIIA sPLA2 is associated with increased mortality by COVID-19 [12], and lipid mediators arising from the activity of PLA2 have been correlated with severe SARS-CoV-2 infection in humans [34], a therapeutic compound able to simultaneously inhibit both SARS-CoV-2 Mpro and GIIA sPLA2 would be of great value, as it would significantly reduce the risk of COVID-19 mortality. This evidence concerns the gene PLA2G2A and COVID-19.
