Women with high pre-diagnostic levels of vitamin D had a lower percentage of VDR negative tumors compared to women with low or medium levels of vitamin D. This, together with results from Cox analyses showing a lower risk of a VDR negative tumor with increasing levels of vitamin D, indicate that vitamin D levels may influence whether or not a breast tumor express VDR, even though these results did not reach statistical significance. This evidence concerns the gene VDR and breast neoplasm.
