In 2012, three prenylated flavonols, 8-(1,1-dimethylallyl)-5′-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-3′,4′,5,7-tetrahydroxyflanvonol,papyriflavonol A, and broussoflavonol B, isolated from BP roots, suppressed two human cholinesterases related to Alzheimer’s disease (AD) in a dose-dependent manner, with IC50 values ranging from 0.8 to 3.1 μM and from 0.5 to 24.7 μM against HAChE and BChE, respectively [47]. This evidence concerns the gene BCHE and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
