Concerning trans-caryophyllene, Suijun et al. [63] and Basha and Sankaranarayanan, [64] showed that this compound is able to restore certain parameters related to diabetes, including the regulation of glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS) in pancreatic β-cells via activation of the cannabinoid type 2 receptor (CB2R), protecting pancreatic β-cells, decreasing the glycaemia, and increasing plasma insulin levels.
