CKD is either defined by structural renal pathology (or kidney transplant), by a reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2, and/or by a urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR) of >30 mg/g creatinine for at least three months [1].
