Interestingly, betulinic acid induces apoptosis by regulating PI3K/Akt signaling and mitochondrial pathways in human cervical cancer cells [33] and in differentiated PC12 cells via ROS-mediated mitochondrial pathways [34].Our data suggests that treatment with the BA derivative, BTA07, not only protects ARCMs from H/R stimulation, but also recovers the suppressed phosphorylation of Akt evoked by H/R stimulation.
