Furthermore, looking at the genes associated with polycystic kidney disease, acute kidney insufficiency and acute kidney injury, we found uncoupling protein 3 (UCP3), albumin (ALB), pro-platelet basic protein (PPBP), solute carrier family 22 member 12 (SLC22A12), cytochrome P450 family 2 subfamily C member 9 (CYP2C9), myeloperoxidase (MPO) and LDL receptor related protein 2 (LRP2) to be altered by TMAO. Here, LRP2 is linked to acute kidney injury.
