ASRGL1 and retinal degeneration: Comparison of the retinal changes between the Asrgl1mut/mut mouse model described in this study and the Asrgl1 KO model reported by Zhou et al. revealed that the mice in both models developed progressive retinal degeneration involving both rod and cone photoreceptor loss [22], further supporting a key role for ASRGL1 in the retina and providing proof that a lack of ASRGL1 leads to retinal pathology.
