There were no significant differences between subgroups A and B with regard to the duration of infection before hospital and neurological diagnosis, age of patients, CD4 T-cell count, death during hospitalisation, number of late presenters, results of anti-HCV tests, chronic and past HBV infection, history of toxoplasmosis, and HIV transmission route: IVDU, heterosexual or bisexual contacts or congenital infections. Here, CD4 is linked to infection.
