Interestingly, in tumours where Cad11 or N-cadherin promotes metastasis (e.g., breast and prostate cancers, [93,94,95,96,97,98]), then inhibition of Cad11 would induce apoptosis (through Stat3 inhibition) in metastatic tumour cells specifically, since normal cells would have low E2F activity, hence would be spared. This evidence concerns the gene CDH11 and prostate carcinoma.
