The quantitative analysis of MMP levels in CSF samples by zymography showed significantly higher CSF MMP-2 levels in the ARDS compared to the non-ARDS group (90.5 [83.5–103.6] and 79.0 [61.4–85.7], respectively, p = 0.0303) (Figure 3B) and higher CSF MMP-9 levels, although not statistically significant (MMP-9: 20.5 [14.6–79.0] and 15.2 [10.6–17.8], respectively, p = 0.0823) (Figure 3C). The gene discussed is MMP9; the disease is acute respiratory distress syndrome.
