Since very recent reviews summarized the action of leptin [22,23] and adiponectin [24,25] in NAFLD in detail, here we will focus on the preclinical and clinical data of less-studied adipokines (ghrelin, resistin, RBP4, visfatin, chemerin, and AFABP) in NAFLD, briefly overviewing the activity of leptin and adiponectin. The gene discussed is RETN; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
