Weight loss following bariatric surgery or lifestyle modification, namely healthy eating habits and physical exercise, in the NAFLD population, diminishes circulating leptin [8,22,130,131,132,133], resistin [131], RBP4 [8], visfatin [131], and chemerin [8], while elevating circulating adiponectin [8,131,133,134]. This evidence concerns the gene LEP and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
