Although IL-15 is a pleiotropic cytokine, one of its main actions is favoring the differentiation, the acquisition of effector functions, and the survival of cytotoxic lymphocytes, including effector memory cytotoxic T cells and NK cells, both involved in the induction of epidermal keratinocyte cell death in SJS/TEN. Here, IL15 is linked to toxic epidermal necrolysis.
