Indeed, plasma levels of pT181-Tau are 3.5-fold increased in AD as compared to controls [7,8,9,10]; they correlate significantly with CSF levels and parenchymal amyloid and tau load [8] and they may become abnormal in the predementia or even the presymptomatic stage of AD, predicting future transition to AD dementia [10].
