Patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 have increased gene expression and serum concentrations of GRP78 [59] and, as it is able to bind to the S protein of SARS-CoV-2 [60] and, as previously reported, is involved in the entry of some viruses [61], it may represent another potential therapeutic target in COVID-19 treatment. This evidence concerns the gene HSPA5 and COVID-19.
