IL6 and diabetes mellitus: The patients in our study had similar age, gender, ethnicity, BMI and severity markers to the overall population of SARS-CoV-2 patients presenting to the hospital (Supplementary Table 1, see section on supplementary materials given at the end of this article), although these patients had lower interleukin-6 (median 8.1 vs 11.9); were less likely to be admitted to ICU (11.2% vs 18.9%); and were more likely to have diabetes (32.8% vs 20.7%) or other endocrine diseases (14.2% vs 8.7%).
