Several effect biomarkers influenced by PFAS exposure were identified and were related with a value increasing the risk of metabolic disease, such as increased ALT levels, increased gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) levels, elevated uric acid levels, elevated TC, elevated TG, elevated LDL, elevated renal glucocorticoid receptor expression, elevated aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) activation, increased reactive oxide species (ROS), or increase in intracellular calcium levels, in addition to decreased renal nephron endowment. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and metabolic disease.
