They discovered that a novel natural-derived cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibitor, 10-dehydrogingerdione, suppressed PCSK9 expression and functions in hyperlipidemic rabbits, which was accompanied by a reduction in platelet activation, cellular adhesion inflammatory molecules, and endothelial dysfunction biomarkers when compared to atorvastatin treatment [39].
